The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
